Our company focuses on the distribution of architecturally detailed building products. We sell into a number of geographical areas including the United States, plus we are mobile when sourcing product or managing our quality control. The advent of cloud computing has allowed us to leverage our strengths and minimize on bureaucracy and technical IT support. Versaccounts offers a fully web-based system that can be accessed online anywhere, anytime and from any device. It’s relatively easy to use (with basic understanding of accounting principles) yet offers a wide range of features and complexity. It also eliminates a level of duplication that we experienced in more conventional systems. They use a dedicated server system located only in Canada.
The feature that we love best is the ability to have users access the system at any given moment from wherever they find themselves. We can perform a conference call to sort out an income statement, a general ledger query or review a quotation or an order. We love this flexibility and transparency – I actually never see my bookkeeper. And the files can be exported in formats suitable for my accountant.
Our office is in Vancouver, BC. Versaccounts is located in Ottawa. Jim Welch, the owner, is always responsive and available; we receive almost immediate technical support. The geographical separation is of no concern to us and further emphasizes the strengths of bringing one’s systems to the cloud. My only point of sympathy goes out to those large legacy software houses like SAP, Netsuite and Oracle. I have no idea how they plan to compete with comprehensive systems such as Versaccounts. The savings in internal resources itself is impressive. One monthly fee, no hardware, no software, no maintenance fees – spells a great way to do business and keep costs lean.
