Muse, Editor in Chief, CIO.com seems to think so. In the editorial of the Aug 2016 issue of CIO that has the tagline- ERP heads for the cloud, he predicts that this is indeed the year for the cloud ERP.
Citing Michael Nadeau’s article in the same publication, he says that on-premise ERP implementations are living on borrowed time and that initial attitudes of skepticism about cloud ERPs have significantly changed and most people are appreciating their value propositions.
He also cites that Gartner has predicted that the cloud will become the default mode of software deployment by the year 2020.
He feels that cloud and ERP are finally well suited for each other and the vendors and enterprises that don’t understand Dan and adopt them will be at a competitive disadvantage.
